Unreal engine 5 comes with all kinds of models and things that you are needing for you games. It is perfect to use when you are first starting off with game design. There are all kinds of tutorials that you can find and use with it.
When first launching the engine you can choose from different premade templates or start on a blank surface. This is helpful as the character controller is already made for you and then you can just expand on it. You can use the Unreal marketplace to find user made content to help you in making your projects.
Speaking of projects UE5 is more than just a game engine it’s a full architecture suite that allows you to fully light the buildings and world so you can see how your designs will be seen when built. The engine also can be used for full animation projects such as cartoons.
When programming your project you can use C++ if you are confident and trained in that language but if not then you have Blueprints which is a drag and drop style of programming. Blueprints is innovative because it allows anyone to make a game, movie, or whatever they have in mind.
There’s so much to Unreal Engine 5 that it would take days to write each and everything and the benefits of each thing.
UE5 is free to use unless you publish your game and make over 100k in sales then Epic Games will take a small percent of the sales for royalties. Any project other than games is completely free to publish and sale. To download the software you will need the Epic Games launcher and there is a section dedicated to Unreal Engine.
