Sons of the forest is nothing like the first forest which is both a blessing and a curse. Honestly, the first game, the forest is so much better than this one due to many different factors but also this game is a lot different in a good way.
This one is more advanced and basically it has so much more. In the first forest if you died you ended back up on the plane which was a blessing because you could make your camp near the plane and wouldn’t have to travel very far.
Though this forest of nightmares, if you die, you end up tied to a pole with cannibals surrounding you or under the water drowning while trying to cut yourself free. The technology in this game isore advanced and modern. You will now be able to see each other on the map via the gps tracker and this will also allow you to track your AI buddy Kevin.
If you are playing with friends just know you have to launch with them in the multiplayer lobby before starting the game just like in the original game. If you are playing solo, you won’t be able to play the multiplayer map so you will have to restart. Also just a heads up, if you throw a grenade at your team mate it will kill them and they will be tied to a pole.
You can find guns around the map and many different tools to help you along the way, one such is you have Kelvin who is an AI to help you build and gather supplies that is needed. He can also get food and so much more. This is honestly a good perk in the game but you do have to worry about his health and he does get lost a lot and goes missing.
Not to mention he is deaf dude to the helicopter crash so you basically have to tell him what to do and look for him. You use the notepad feature on him to show him what you want him to do and where he should be going.
In the first one you are a father looking for his son on an island in a forest. In this one, you are basically hired on by a group of people to find a millionaires family that is missing in the forest and you eventually find them. Well you find some of them as one of the will find you and will help you survive if you befriend her instead of attacking them.
This one isn’t as good to me as the first one since it is way different than the first and the crafting isn’t the same. The survival aspect isn’t the same and feels rushed, well seeing as they decided to release it as a EA game instead of delaying it to finish polishing the game. I am in no means saying the game isn’t fun or worth it but it has a feel of difference that needs a change before it will meet the first game in quality.
