Each character has to be played a certain way or style and it can be difficult if you’re not use to it. Each ability uses mana that you can farm to help you stay on top of it.
I use to avoid smite because it was a challenge and I did not understand how to play it but a good friend of mine was walking me through how to play it and what to do and I understand more now but it is still a challenging and unforgiving game.
